Maytag Stackable Washer Dryer Review
Are you thinking about a Maytag stackable washer dryer combination? If you have a tiny (or virtually no) laundry room, you’ve probably thought of one. But how does the Maytag “stack up” as a washer-dryer combo?
Model MET3800TW Stackable
The Maytag Stacked washing machine and dryer model MET3800TW gives you a good-sized washer/dryer capacity in addition to a respectable feature list. The dryer (on the top) is actually pretty decent in size, with an overall capacity totaling 5.9 cubic feet. It’s fine for most items (jeans, towels, sheets), but you’ll want to reconsider very bulky items like comforters. Still, most people will find it quite adequate.
The washer part this Maytag washer and dryer combination is on the bottom and its total capacity weighs in at 2.6 cubic feet. Not quite the industry standard, but not too bad, either. If you have a small household (single or couple), it’s more than enough. But for a family with children, it might not fit the bill, depending on the size of the children (toddlers OK, teens probably not).
The overall height while stacked is 73 inches, while the width is 27 inches.
This Maytag stackable washer dryer model is available for both gas and electricity.
Wash Cycles for the Maytag Stackable MET3800TW
The MET3800TW model washing machine has 9 different washing modes, which is pretty decent, even compared to a standard washer. You can choose from light, standard and heavy wash cycles in addition to gentle wash cycles, to keep your more delicate clothes delicate.
Here’s something new; the washing machine also has something called the IntelliFill sensor. This is neat because it automatically weighs the laundry load and figures out the precise water level needed, saving water waste. This IntelliFill sensor also checks the soap level. This is to prevent too much or too little suds in the water – saving you money on laundry detergent.
Maytag Stackable Washer Dryer: Final Thoughts
Now admittedly, a small stackable isn’t going to have the same performance as the larger models. And in fact this model’s predecessor, the 2400 series, had some problems with the dryer (too small and too loud). However, Maytag listened to the public and fixed most of the issues with the MET3800TW.
The average price for this Maytag washer/dryer combo is roughly $1,300. Yes, it may seem a little on the expensive side, but you are getting both for the money.
Should you buy a Maytag stackable washer dryer? If space is at a premium, you’ll definitely want to consider this model. If you have the room, though, go with a standard non-stackable.
